Edinburgh (Leith) is were the first golf was played to written rules in 1744. When only two Golf Courses existed one in Edinburgh Bruntsfield and one in Leith. Leith was not part of Edinburgh until 1920. Now there are over 20 courses council owned and private. All can be played by booking in advance.
